Google Earth Voyager Offers Virtual Tours of Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry Buildings
Google Earth has launched Voyager, a new storytelling platform that provides guided virtual tours of contemporary architecture and natural landmarks. After two years of development, the feature offers access to six buildings by Zaha Hadid (who died in 2016) and eight by Frank Gehry, including the MAXXI in Rome and the Vitra Design Museum. Gopal Shan, product manager at Google Earth, described it as a way to contextualize destinations with expert-written descriptions. The initial selection includes the Port Authority Building in Antwerp and the Salerno Maritime Terminal, both posthumous works by Hadid. Users can also explore lesser-known sites via an "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. The feature provides 2D and 3D renderings for immersive virtual tours.
