Google DeepMind Partners with South Korea to Advance AI Research

Google DeepMind is teaming up with South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) to push forward AI research, develop local expertise, and establish an AI Campus in Seoul. This collaboration is part of DeepMind's National Partnerships for AI initiative, designed to strengthen Korea’s AI ambitions and create a thriving AI environment. Korea is recognized for its high density of AI innovations and has the fastest growth rate in AI adoption among the 30 largest economies. The project will bring advanced AI tools like AlphaEvolve and AlphaFold to universities such as Seoul National University and KAIST. The AI Campus will also provide internship prospects for students, building on Google’s commitment to 50,000 AI Essentials scholarships. Additionally, DeepMind will collaborate with the Korean AI Safety Institute for safety research, as pledged during the AI Seoul Summit. A National AI for Science Center (NAIS) is set to launch in May, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the historic AlphaGo match in Seoul.
