Google DeepMind Launches National AI Partnership with Singapore
Google DeepMind has formed a national collaboration with the Singapore government to promote advanced AI in sectors such as healthcare, education, sustainability, and scientific research. This partnership features an AI co-clinician program with public health groups, pandemic readiness assistance through Google.org's $7 million donation to the Philanthropy Asia Alliance, and a Gemma-based running assistant for visually impaired athletes created with SG Enable. Additionally, local researchers will receive training on agentic AI tools in collaboration with the National Research Foundation. In education, all educators from primary to junior college will have access to Gemini for Education, supported by training from the Ministry of Education. The 'Google DeepMind Accelerator: AI for the Planet' will also launch in Asia-Pacific to aid climate startups, with safety standards being explored alongside IMDA and MLCommons. This initiative aims to create an extra S$3.3 billion (US$2.5 billion) in economic value by 2040 through accelerated R&D.
