Google Arts & Culture Launches Digital Grand Tour of Italy
On May 16, 2017, Google introduced the Grand Tour d'Italia in a digital format at Tesa 94 in the Arsenale Nord, Venice. This initiative, created in partnership with several organizations including the Comitato Giovani della Commissione Nazionale Italiana per l'UNESCO and Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, seeks to enhance access to Italy's artistic and cultural heritage through Google technologies and virtual reality. The project highlights four cities—Venice, Siena, Rome, and Palermo—featuring elements such as Canaletto paintings, the Palio di Siena, and the Castello della Zisa. From May 19 to 21, Venice will offer free interactive installations and workshops at the Arsenale. The content can be explored on the initiative's website and Google Arts & Culture, established by Amit Sood.
