Google Antigravity 2.0 debuts at IO 2026 with desktop app, CLI, and SDK

ai-technology · 2026-05-19

At Google IO 2026, Google unveiled Antigravity 2.0, an updated version of its agentic coding tool launched last year as a competitor to Cursor. The new version includes a desktop app for orchestrating multiple agents and executing tasks simultaneously, a CLI tool for terminal-based agent creation, and an SDK for building custom agents. The desktop app allows users to design custom subagent workflows, schedule background tasks, and integrate with Google AI Studio, Android, and Firebase. Many features are powered by the new Gemini 3.5 Flash model, co-developed using Antigravity. Native voice command support has been added, similar to Gmail and Docs. Google is asking Gemini CLI users to migrate to the new Antigravity CLI. The Antigravity SDK enables developers to build custom agents, and Google Cloud customers can connect to Antigravity for projects. Custom agent templates will be released in AI Studio for enterprise users. An export tool in AI Studio allows developers to continue work locally. Antigravity's coding capabilities are being used in Search to generate custom UIs and mini-apps in real time. Google introduced a new AI Ultra plan at $100/month with 5x higher limits than Pro, and reduced the top AI Ultra plan from $250 to $200/month with 20x higher limits, following tiered pricing from Anthropic and OpenAI.
