Google AI Studio enables rapid Android app creation for anyone

On Tuesday, during the annual developer conference Google I/O, Google unveiled enhanced features for creating native Android applications through its web-based Google AI Studio. This innovation streamlines the app development process, condensing weeks of coding and setup into mere minutes. The applications are developed using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with compatibility for hardware sensors such as GPS, Bluetooth, and NFC. Users can test their apps via an integrated Android Emulator in the browser and transfer them to phones using Android Debug Bridge (adb). Additionally, AI Studio facilitates the creation of app records, package bundles, and uploads to internal testing tracks in Google Play Console. Future updates will enable publishing for friends and family, as well as Firebase integrations. A new "Ask Play" AI feature in the Play Store will enhance app discovery through natural language, while the Gemini virtual assistant will soon highlight apps in conversations and showcase over 450,000 movies and TV shows with direct links to developer apps later this year.
