Good Screens Report: Redesigning Technology for Positive Impact

The research department of the creative platform It's Nice That has unveiled a complimentary report titled 'Good Screens,' available for download. This publication explores the increasing demand for technology that enhances lives, juxtaposed with the $1.3 trillion USD anticipated global expenditure on consumer tech in 2025. It points out that many individuals, particularly younger, 'chronically online' demographics, are becoming disenchanted with technology, suggesting that the industry fails to meet their needs. The report poses design-related questions about whether devices should be subtle or extravagant and whether they should perform more or less. It includes perspectives from various designers and creative technologists, such as the Amsterdam-based studio Modem, and serves as a resource for brands aiming to improve screen time experiences. Editor Liz Gorny, along with managing editor Megan Williams and Studio Dial, oversaw its design. Contributors include numerous professionals from diverse backgrounds. The report, published around August 2026, is part of It's Nice That's Insights initiative, which focuses on cultural research and strategic trends.
