Gonzalo Borondo's 'Tempo Perso' Transforms Tempesta Gallery Milan

Spanish artist Gonzalo Borondo (born 1989 in Valladolid) presents 'Tempo Perso,' a site-specific installation at Tempesta Gallery in Milan, coinciding with the gallery's fully renovated spaces. The project explores legacy, damnatio memoriae, and iconoclasm, inviting reflection on how society relates to the past and future. In an interview, Borondo argues against the outright elimination of cultural symbols, advocating instead for a critical reassessment of which elements retain value. He critiques monuments as arrogant impositions of a fixed message onto the future, noting that times change and statues risk becoming invisible. Borondo emphasizes creating immersive, emotional environments over didactic messages, aiming to leave a trace in the viewer's memory. The exhibition opened in December 2023.
