Goldschmied & Chiari's 'Duel' at Museo Novecento Confronts Fascist Legacy
The fourth edition of 'Duel' at Museo Novecento in Florence pairs contemporary artists Goldschmied & Chiari with Mario Mafai's 1937 painting 'Demolizioni'. The duo's installation includes 'Patria' (2010-19), a text made of stones and rubble, and 'Dispositivi di rimozione' (2010-12), collages juxtaposing massacre images with pin-up models. Their 'Autoritratto' (2009-19) shows them planting themselves in the ground, while 'Eclisse' (2019) combines alchemical processes with smoke and mirrored surfaces. The exhibition runs at Museo Novecento in Florence.
