Goldrake U: New Anime Series Announced for 2024
A new television series titled Goldrake U will revive the classic anime UFO Robot Goldrake (known in Italy as Goldrake), originally produced by Toei Animation from 1975 to 1977 based on the manga by Gō Nagai. The announcement was made by Manga Productions, a Saudi creative content company specializing in animation, video games, and comics, together with Dynamic Planning, the Japanese anime production company founded by Gō Nagai in the 1970s. The official trailer debuted at the AkibaDaisuki festival in Tokyo. The series will be directed by Mitsuo Fukuda (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED), with character design by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Summer Wars), screenplay by Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion), and music by Kohei Tanaka (One Piece, Sakura Wars). The series will feature a new logo and updated characteristics for the protagonists. It is expected to air on TV and streaming platforms starting in 2024, including in Italy, though specific broadcasters have not yet been announced. Essam Bukhary, CEO of Manga Productions, expressed pride in distributing the series, aiming to reconnect longtime fans and introduce a new generation to the franchise. Abdulaziz Alnaghmoosh, director of distribution, marketing, and business at Manga Productions, highlighted the significance of Goldrake as a milestone in the anime world and the role of Manga Productions in diversifying and expanding the anime industry.
