Go North: Nigeria's First Cozy Game Blends Labyrinths and Relaxation

Tade Ajiboye, an independent developer from Nigeria, has released 'Go North', a cozy exploration game that combines labyrinthine puzzles with a relaxing, contemplative atmosphere. The game, which launched this week on PC via Steam and Xbox Series, with a Nintendo Switch version planned, is notable for being Nigeria's first cozy game and for being developed almost entirely by a single person over two years. Ajiboye presented the game at the Games First event in Finland, where he explained that players control a young girl named Dara who seeks to have her wish granted by the God of Labyrinths. The gameplay involves traversing numerous unique and beautiful mazes, using magical objects, and completing original side quests. The game features third-person exploration with stunning visuals, no dialogue, and a focus on poetry and discovery. Ajiboye drew inspiration from the acclaimed game 'Gris', aiming to create a similarly beautiful and immersive experience. The game's release is part of RFI's summer gaming recommendations, highlighting its significance as a solo-developed title from Africa.
