Celebrazioni Globali del Giorno della Poesia in Onore di Jonas Mekas in Oltre 30 Istituzioni
Nel settembre 2024, il Centre Pompidou di Parigi celebrerà il Giorno della Poesia a livello globale, rendendo omaggio al regista e poeta d'avanguardia Jonas Mekas (1922-2019). Più di trenta istituzioni in tutto il mondo, tra musei e cinema, sono coinvolte in questo evento. Il Pompidou proietta l'ultimo film di Mekas, 'Requiem' (2019), fino al 22 settembre come parte del festival Extra!. Tra le sedi partecipanti figurano ZEBULON, Gwangju Independent Film Theater e il Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center. Saranno presentate mostre speciali, come 'Memories of Jonas Mekas' a Parigi e altre a Teheran. Il 15 settembre, il MAS Movico Art Space in Italia ha presentato 'Birth of a Nation / Made for Denis', mentre la Fondazione ICA Milano proietterà 'Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania' e 'WTC Haikus' il 17 settembre. Mekas è stato il fondatore della rivista Film Culture e dell'Anthology Film Archives.
