Global fashion weeks pivot to digital platforms amid pandemic
The British Fashion Council revealed that London Fashion Week will adopt a digital and gender-neutral format for the upcoming year, combining menswear and womenswear from June 12 to 14, aimed at both buyers and consumers. Shanghai Fashion Week, which took place from March 24-30, marked the inaugural purely digital fashion week, featuring 150 designers who showcased their collections on Alibaba's Tmall, attracting 11 million viewers. Meanwhile, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has canceled Paris Fashion Week, originally set for June 23-28, and will host a digital men's fashion week from July 9 to 13. Milan Digital Fashion Week is scheduled to showcase pre-collections from July 14 to 17. Plans for the Haute Couture presentations from July 5-9 remain unannounced, but Paris Fashion Week is confirmed for September.
