Global exhibitions mark 100 years of Surrealism
The centenary of Surrealism is marked by significant exhibitions across the globe. Initiated by André Breton's Surrealist Manifesto in October 1924, the Centre Pompidou's traveling exhibition commenced in Brussels on February 21 and will move to Paris from September until January 13, 2025, showcasing prominent Surrealists and the original Manifesto manuscript. Following Paris, it will proceed to Hamburg, Madrid, and ultimately reach the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2026. Munich's Lenbachhaus will feature "But Live Here? No Thanks: Surrealism + Anti-Fascism" from October 15 to March 2, 2025. The Hepworth Wakefield will present "Forbidden Territories" from November 23, 2024, to April 21, 2025. Additionally, the Fondazione Magnani Rocca will display works until December 15, 2024, and the Museo di Arti Decorative Accorsi-Ometto will showcase "Giorgio de Chirico 1924" from November 8, 2024, to March 2, 2025. A conference at the Collezione Peggy Guggenheim is scheduled for October 17-18, 2024.
