Glitch Goes Physical: Error as Aesthetic in Treviso Group Show

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The gallery Tra Treviso Ricerca Arte in Treviso, Italy, will open the group exhibition "Le conseguenze dell'errore" (The Consequences of Error) on May 18, 2019, with a preview on May 17 at 7 PM. Curated by Valerio Veneruso, the show explores error, chance, and the unexpected as artistic inspiration, tracing a lineage from Dada and Surrealism to digital glitch aesthetics. Veneruso, a collaborator of Artribune, developed the concept from his article "Dagli atomi ai bit & ritorno. Il glitch analogico," published in Artribune's print issue #42 and online. The exhibition focuses on the physical translation of electronic deformations, bridging digital and material realms. Seven artists are featured, mostly young, with the exception of established master Tony Cragg. Works range from Maurizio Bongiovanni's dense paintings based on downloaded internet images, to Kensuke Koike's analog editing of cut-and-reassembled photographs and postcards, to Faig Ahmed's "liquid" carpets that collapse textile matter. Giuseppe Abate creates ironic yet dramatic works across painting, embroidery, and installation; Andrea Cazzagon produces fake-leather masks and stone pieces reflecting on deformation; and 2501 (Jacopo Ceccarelli) brings glitch into muralism and street art.
