Glenda Cinquegrana opens new Milan gallery space amid pandemic

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Despite the challenging year for the art world due to the pandemic, gallerist, consultant, and journalist Glenda Cinquegrana opened a new exhibition space in Milan in October 2020. The Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting gallery, founded in 2006 and specializing in modern and contemporary art and photography, moved to a 1920s building on Via Settembrini in the Porta Venezia district. The inaugural exhibition, "Emblema, Francolino, Scodro," curated by Denis Isaia (curator of contemporary art exhibitions and collections at Mart in Trento and Rovereto), brings together artists Salvatore Emblema (Terzigno, 1929), Andrea Francolino (Bari, 1979), and Alberto Scodro (Nove, Vicenza, 1984) around themes of ecology and environmental sustainability. Emblema's work uses volcanic soil from Mount Vesuvius, anticipating "zero-kilometer" practices; Francolino explores the dialectical relationship between man and nature; Scodro transforms natural materials in kilns to create works described as "precipitate of landscape." The space blends original period decorations with contemporary renovations. The exhibition runs until December 1, 2020, by appointment. Future plans include photography and Africa-focused shows, as well as digital initiatives like viewing rooms and participation in online fairs Flashback and WopArt.
