Glauco Canalis's First Solo Show at 2Lab Gallery in Catania

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Photographer Glauco Canalis (born 1990 in Piazza Armerina, Sicily) presents his first solo exhibition, 'Come il Vento – Sopra un SH', at 2Lab Gallery in Catania, co-curated by Ritmo and the gallery. The show explores youth cultures in the peripheries of Naples and Catania, focusing on themes of identity, place, and the Mediterranean. The exhibition is installed in the San Cristoforo neighborhood at Via Plebiscito 172, where the gallery recently relaunched its cultural program. Images are displayed without frames, glued directly to walls and overlaid with vector lines that evoke the street grids and waterfronts of the two cities. Two framed works feature cement and wire mesh frames created with a local mason and Ritmo curators. The title references a line by rapper Paky. A companion essay by journalist Salvatore Garzillo accompanies the visual journey. Canalis states that Catania was the essential starting point for his photographic research, and the exhibition aims to connect Catania and Naples. The show was planned alongside a visual research workshop at 2Lab Gallery, postponed due to COVID-19.
