Glasstire's Top Five Texas Art Events: May 7, 2026

This week's Glasstire roundup features five notable art happenings throughout Texas. Kandy G. Lopez, an Afro-Caribbean American fiber artist recognized by Vogue as "the Barkley L. Hendricks of fiber art," showcases her inaugural Texas solo exhibition, "Allegiance to the People," at the Houston Museum of African American Culture, running from March 27 to June 6, 2026, with workshops scheduled for May 9. Meanwhile, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts hosts the 26th San Angelo North American Ceramic Competition from April 17 to June 21, featuring juror Linda Ganstrom and artist Marc Leuthold. On May 9, Fort Worth will see its first SpeedBump Fort Worth, a free art walk organized by Claire Kennedy and Max Marshall, spanning 11 venues.
