Glasgow's Centre for Contemporary Arts to permanently close

institutional · 2026-04-24

Glasgow's Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) is permanently closing due to financial difficulties, Creative Scotland confirmed. The board closed the building this morning, intends to commence a formal winding up process, and informed staff they are no longer employed via an online call. Creative Scotland confirmed the CCA has been placed in administration and will not make further payments under a three-year funding agreement worth £3.4 million signed in 2025, as the institution cannot demonstrate ongoing viability. The closure follows a temporary shutdown last June after activists from Art Workers for Palestine Scotland occupied the space.
