festival-fair · 2026-03-20

Glasgow International (GI), Scotland's biennial festival of contemporary art, has announced details for its 10th edition running from June 7 to June 23, 2024. The free festival will feature over 45 exhibitions and projects across more than 30 venues citywide and online, involving over 70 artists. New Festival Director Richard Birkett emphasized a collaborative, polyvocal approach that prioritizes structural and artistic equity. The festival has been reshaped to support independent practices in Glasgow while fostering transnational connections. Participants include Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Susan Philipsz, Richard Wright, Cathy Wilkes, and Jasleen Kaur. Organizations involved include CCA Glasgow, Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), Tramway, Transmission, and Glasgow School of Art. The visual identity was created by artist Matthew Arthur Williams and designer Maeve Redmond. The festival is supported by Creative Scotland, British Council Scotland, and the Scottish Government's EXPO fund. Bailie Annette Christie and Minister for Culture Christina McKelvie praised the festival's role in Glasgow's cultural scene.
