Gladiator 2 trailer released, film set for November 2024
The first trailer for Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2 has been released, following earlier set photos that generated online buzz. The sequel to the 2000 cult classic starring Russell Crowe is set to premiere in theaters on November 22, 2024. The plot follows Lucius, years after witnessing the death of his hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, as he is forced to fight in the Colosseum after his homeland is conquered by two tyrannical emperors. The film is set approximately 30 years after the original. Paul Mescal stars as Lucius, the son of Lucilla and nephew of Commodus. Returning cast members include Connie Nielsen as Lucilla, Derek Jacobi as Senator Gracchus, and Djimon Hounsou as the gladiator Juba. New additions include Denzel Washington as a veteran gladiator, Joseph Quinn as Emperor Caracalla, and Pedro Pascal. Russell Crowe does not appear.
