Giuseppe Stampone's 'Il cielo blu sopra il Gran Sasso' at Prometeo Gallery Milan

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Prometeo Gallery Ida Pisani in Milan presents Giuseppe Stampone's new works in the exhibition 'Il cielo blu sopra il Gran Sasso / Campo Imperatore', subtitled 'Dal global al local per il recupero di sé'. The show celebrates the Abruzzo territory where the artist lives and works, featuring a large Bic Blu pen drawing, two vinyls, a map, three drawings, sixteen photographs, and a video. Stampone aims to transcend the historical legacy of Campo Imperatore—known as Benito Mussolini's prison during WWII—and highlight the natural, historical, and cultural complexity of the Gran Sasso area. He uses his signature blue as a unifying element to draw attention to the landscape and the biological preciousness of Crocus Vernus flowers. The artist collaborates with performer Maria Crispal, his partner, on feminist works that celebrate the territory. The video 'Gran Sassa' combines ritual action with a documentary-like presentation of local flora and fauna; Crispal embodies twelve goddesses from different cultures, culminating in a new deity, 'Gran Sassa', symbolizing the feminization of the Gran Sasso territory. Stampone also surprises with a wine label created with award-winning producer Mario Di Paolo, underscoring the region's enological culture. The exhibition runs at Prometeo Gallery Ida Pisani in Milan.
