Giuseppe Stampone's Homage to His Father Vincenzo in Fraine
Giuseppe Stampone presents a tribute exhibition for his father Vincenzo Stampone, titled "Stampone Vincenzo. Un bambino nato a Fraine," held at the Santuario di Santa Maria Mater Domini in Bosco delle Vicenne, Fraine, province of Chieti. Organized by the Pro Loco, composed of Vincenzo's childhood friends, the show is described by critic Antonello Tolve as an act of love and gratitude. Vincenzo, who emigrated to Switzerland at age 12 to work as a turner, later became a firefighter in Mugello and for 25 years served as his son's assistant, traveling to fairs and biennials worldwide. The exhibition features four works from 2021: "Il bambino che guardava le stelle," "Campo di calcio," "A mio padre," and "Autoritratto," all executed in pen and graphite with a neorealist style. The pieces explore Italian identity through personal narrative, culminating in "Autoritratto," symbolizing the passing of the baton from father to son. The exhibition avoids nostalgia, focusing instead on sacred, simple subjects that form the backbone of Italian culture.
