Giuseppe Penone's 'Scultura' Opens at Mart Rovereto

Giuseppe Penone's site-specific exhibition 'Scultura' at the Mart in Rovereto, curated by director Gianfranco Maraniello, creates a dialogue between the artist's sculpture and drawing and Mario Botta's architecture. Penone aims to 'break down the walls of the Mart, to open it completely, to reveal this space as never before.' The show emphasizes sculptural action through manipulation of materials like clay, marble, and bronze, featuring works such as 'Sigillo' (2012), 'Soffio di foglie' (1979), and 'Spazio di luce' (2008). The latter, a bronze tree installed vertically in the museum's staircase, explores light and absence. Penone's investigation of skin and imprint is central, exemplified by the artist's book 'Svolgere la propria pelle' (1976). The exhibition runs until June 26, 2016, with a catalog published by Electa.
