Giuseppe Penone's Dual Rome Shows at Gagosian and Fendi

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Giuseppe Penone, one of Italy's most globally celebrated living artists, is the subject of two concurrent exhibitions in Rome. At the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in EUR—headquarters of Fendi—the fashion house presents 'Matrice,' a solo show featuring a large sculpture destined for permanent installation in central Rome. Simultaneously, Gagosian Gallery Rome hosts 'Equivalenze,' curated by Massimiliano Gioni, showcasing fifteen works from the 1970s to today, many previously unseen in Italy. The public opening is January 27, 2017.
