Giuseppe Mulas Sleep Well Childhood at Alberto Peola Gallery

exhibition · 2026-04-27

On February 6, 2020, Alberto Peola Gallery in Turin opened Sleep Well Childhood, the first solo exhibition of Giuseppe Mulas (born 1995 in Alghero). The show explores the contrast between childhood memories of domestic intimacy shared with a parent and the present reality of independence and solitude. Bedrooms and bathrooms become private microcosms for reflection and self-contact. Exotic fruits like pineapples, coconuts, and bananas—recurring motifs in Mulas's work—reveal a strongly symbolic language. The interplay of colors and material surfaces isolates the canvases from reality. In The moon is yellow like a banana, the dream world emerges, where deep impulses are unconsciously released. The fruit becomes the main subject, transformed into the moon, part of a preexisting structure. The banana, fruit of the most spontaneous double entendre, is now the only natural satellite.
