Giuseppe Gabellone's Minimalist Steel Sculpture at Quartz Studio, Turin

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Quartz Studio in Turin presents the second exhibition of its season, featuring Italian artist Giuseppe Gabellone (born 1973 in Brindisi, based in Paris). The show follows a previous project by Latvian artist Ola Vasiljeva and is supported by the Fondazione Sardi per l'Arte. Gabellone's new work is a steel lamp-sculpture measuring four meters by approximately 1.7 meters, equipped with forty lamps that serve as the sole illumination for the space. The artist describes the piece as an attempt to extend the sculpture as far as possible into the environment, like someone opening their arms wide to block others from entering. This work marks a return to a zero degree of sculpture, eliminating the pictorial and material components present in his earlier pieces in favor of a minimalist form poetically humanized by light. The exhibition is held at Quartz Studio, a window-space in Turin.
