Giulio Paolini's complete oeuvre now searchable online

digital · 2026-04-27

The Fondazione Giulio e Anna Paolini has launched a free online catalogue raisonné of Giulio Paolini's complete works. The site includes scientific records, full captions, and bibliographic data for each piece. The collection comprises 67 works donated by the artist and his wife Anna Piva (1931–2021) in 2004 and 2012, spanning from his first painting, "Disegno geometrico" (1960), to works from the 2000s. The catalogue is divided into sections: paintings, sculptures, installations; works on paper; and graphic editions. It also documents Paolini's stage designs, from Alfieri's "Bruto II" (1969) at the Teatro Stabile di Torino to Wagner's "Parsifal" (2007). Critical readings are provided by scholars including Fabio Belloni, Claudio Zambianchi, Laura Iamurri, Denis Viva, and Giuliano Sergio. The website design mirrors the artist's aesthetic: a white cube with two entry points, one leading to the foundation's collection.
