Giulio Paolini Receives Honorary Degree in Art History from University of Turin

Giulio Paolini, who was born in Genoa in 1940, was awarded an honorary degree in Art History by the University of Turin on May 20, 2026. After relocating to Bergamo during his childhood, he moved to Turin in 1952 to pursue graphic design. At the age of 20, he launched his career with "Disegno geometrico," and held his first solo exhibition in 1964. In the late 1960s, he became linked to Arte Povera, emphasizing the role of art-making tools and the involvement of the audience. Since 1969, he has also created theatrical sets and has been featured in four Documenta events and ten Venice Biennales. His works are included in prominent collections, and he received the Praemium Imperiale for Painting in 2022.
