Giulio Paolini installs permanent work in Turin's Royal Gardens
In Turin's Boschetto, Giulio Paolini has unveiled a new permanent installation as part of the renovation of the historic Giardini Reali. This project is being managed by the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio per the City of Turin and is funded by the Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo. The 19th-century Boschetto has been revamped by architect Paolo Pejrone, incorporating 18,000 plants. Paolini's installation, named "Pietre Preziose," features marble pieces from the Cappella della Sindone, which was damaged in a fire in 1997. It includes a figure—either Guarini or Paolini—on a base echoing the chapel’s design. The total investment for this project, celebrating the Consulta's 30th anniversary, is €300,000, with Reale Mutua covering half. Paolini mentioned that the scattered marble pieces were intentionally placed, not meant to create a unified piece.
