Giulio Mosca on his new graphic novel 'Clorofilla' and the power of comics

Giulio Mosca, known as 'Il Baffo', is an Italian cartoonist with over half a million Instagram followers. Born in Genoa in 1991, he studied at IED in Turin after winning a scholarship, then co-founded a startup where he worked as creative director for four years. He started his Facebook page in December 2016, posting a daily strip. His latest book 'Clorofilla' (Feltrinelli Comics, 2021) is a love story structured like a mystery, beginning with a car crash and unfolding through flashbacks. Mosca describes it as 'without pretensions'—a simple story that readers can imbue with personal meaning. The project was developed with editor Tito Faraci. Mosca sees comics as a powerful medium with no budget or physical limits. He uses the couple archetype as a 'Trojan horse' to explore complex emotions. Instagram is central to his profession, allowing him to build an active community and show the person behind the work.
