Giulio Iacchetti: domestic gardens and sculptural forms
Giulio Iacchetti, an industrial designer active since 1992, discusses how his studio's verdant garden and the surrounding vegetation have inspired many of his works. His open-plan studio features a large window overlooking a lush garden, creating a seamless dialogue between interior and exterior. The palette of greens and natural colors directly influences his designs. Iacchetti explains that wood is his primary material for models, being generous and malleable. His 'Pitosforo' sculptures are slender figures reminiscent of Nuragic bronzes and Giacometti's works, created in Fertilia, Sardinia, where he spends summers with his family. He describes them as small secular nativity scenes, fragile, reflecting his vocation for form and sculpture. Iacchetti has designed for brands including Abet Laminati, Alessi, Artemide, Fontana Arte, Foscarini, Ifi, Magis, and Pandora design. He serves as artistic director for Danese Milano, Dnd, Moleskine, Myhome, and Internoitaliano, a 'diffuse factory' of artisan workshops. In 2001, he won the Compasso d'Oro for Moscardino, a biodegradable multi-purpose cutlery set.
