architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Superstudio Più will celebrate its 18th anniversary during Milan Design Week 2018 (April 17–22) with Giulio Cappellini returning as art director, replacing Carolina Nisivoccia after three years. Founder Gisella Borioli announced the reunion, citing a 30-year collaboration with Cappellini that began in the former General Electric factory on Via Tortona, which became the first exhibition district outside the official fair. The theme for the 2018 edition is "Only the Best," focusing on top international design from emerging designers to global brands, with an emphasis on the future—including augmented reality, new materials, and the impact of technology on living. A book titled "DESIGN 2000/2020" co-authored by Borioli and Cappellini will be released in April to coincide with the Superdesign Show. The first confirmed exhibition is "SMART CITY," curated by Material Connexion, showcasing visions of the future city and running until May 12. Cappellini stated that contemporaneity and research are what visitors want to see in Milan.
