Giuliano Gori's Vision for Fattoria di Celle Sculpture Park

In a 2020 video by Roberto Dassoni, collector Giuliano Gori (died January 26 at 94) explains why he opened his Fattoria di Celle to the public: it made no sense to enjoy the artworks alone. The park, a global reference for environmental art, features 80 installations (26 indoors) by artists including Marino Marini, Richard Serra, Robert Morris, Sol LeWitt, Dennis Oppenheim, Mauro Staccioli, Fausto Melotti, and Daniel Buren, placed between 1976 and 2018. Gori recalls living daily with artists and mentions that Oppenheim and Alice Aycock disappeared for days and returned married. Curator Alberto Fiz calls Gori 'the last emperor,' a visionary collector who acted with total freedom and independence, known for his Tuscan sarcasm and friendships with Osvaldo Licini, Alberto Burri, and Fausto Melotti.
