Giuliano Gori, founder of Fattoria di Celle, dies at 94

On January 25, 2024, Giuliano Gori, the visionary behind the Fattoria di Celle open-air museum in Tuscany, passed away at the age of 94. Gori, who was born in Prato in 1930, began his art collection in the aftermath of World War II, making his initial purchases in the 1950s. In 1970, he relocated to Santomato di Celle, where he developed a 45-hectare park featuring approximately 100 site-specific works by renowned artists such as Fausto Melotti, Richard Serra, and Anselm Kiefer. The museum welcomed visitors in 1982. Additionally, Gori led the committee for a contemporary art center in Prato and co-founded the Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci. He marked the 50th anniversary of his 'fattoria' in 2022.
