Gipi's Comics Exhibition at Palazzo Blu in Pisa

A solo exhibition of works by Gipi (Gian Alfonso Pacinotti, born 1963 in Pisa) is on view at Palazzo Blu in Pisa. The show spans from sketches to finished plates from his most acclaimed graphic novels, including Esterno notte and La terra dei figli. Gipi's style blends a slightly distorted realism with an oppressive sense of precariousness and pessimism, reflecting contemporary anxieties. His work draws comparisons to the urban despair of Pier Vittorio Tondelli and the sharp, bitter irony of Andrea Pazienza. The artist employs various media—watercolor, chalk, pencil, marker, oil, and acrylic—while maintaining a delicate, poetic touch. The exhibition is curated by Niccolò Lucarelli.
