Gipi debuts Barbarone trilogy at Lucca Comics & Game 2022
Gianni Pacinotti, known as Gipi (Pisa, 1963), launched the first volume of his new trilogy "Barbarone sul pianeta delle scimmie erotomani" at Lucca Comics & Game 2022. Published by Rulez, the story follows Barbarone, a bizarre hero who combats cosmic threats while defying spacetime. The book originated from an idea for a short film. During the presentation, actor Giovanni Guerrieri, dressed as an astronaut, portrayed Barbarone in a dialogue with Gipi. The plot begins with Barbarone's spaceship malfunctioning, forcing him to land on an unknown planet inhabited by erotic monkeys. He escapes with his friend Goggo, encountering alien creatures like "Ambasciatore Hatka" and "Pozza di piscio." The story ends with an unexpected return, leaving readers in suspense. Gipi, a leading Italian comic artist, debuted in 1994 on the satirical magazine Cuore. He has since worked as an illustrator, painter, board game inventor, screenwriter, and filmmaker, directing movies such as "Il ragazzo più felice del mondo" and "L'ultimo terrestre." He also created short films for the TV show Propaganda Live. Gipi's work often reflects provincial life, capturing everyday illusions and muffled noises. The podcast "Monologo al Telefono" by Donatella Giordano features Gipi discussing his new book.
