Giovanni Segantini biopic 'Magia della luce' hits Italian cinemas
The feature film 'Giovanni Segantini – magia della luce', directed by Christian Labhart, premieres in Italian theaters tomorrow. Distributed by Lab 80 film, it reconstructs the life of Giovanni Segantini (1858–1899), a painter from Trentino who died at age 41 on the Engadin mountains at 2,700 meters. The film uses images, texts, and diary excerpts to portray his passion for painting and his tormented life in search of altitude and spiritual contact with nature. The German version features the voice of Bruno Ganz, while the Italian version is narrated by Ticino actor Teco Celio, who received a career award at the Locarno Festival in 2015.
