Giovanni Oberti's 'A un soffio dal buio' at Fuoricampo, Siena

Giovanni Oberti (born 1982, Bergamo) presents a solo exhibition at Galleria Fuoricampo in Siena, featuring works that explore temporal dualities through material and light. The centerpiece is 'A un soffio dal buio' (2023), a 4x7-meter black geomembrane telaio pierced with holes to create a starry sky, lowering the gallery ceiling. Beneath it, 'Piove lacrime nuove' uses communicating vessels: a glass vase on a steel shelf drips water into a floor vase via a soaked rag, functioning as a water hourglass. 'A un soffio dal buio' pairs a wall-mounted oil lamp on a steel shelf with dust. 'Il peso ai piedi dell’appeso' is a found wool rug rolled inside a glass tube, preserving dust and memory. The exhibition is described as a further step in Oberti's investigation of circular time mediated by elements, balancing imaginative space with public exhibition.
