Giovanni Gastel's Shanghai Fashion Photography at Fabbrica del Vapore
A new exhibition titled 'Shanghai, in the Mood for Fashion' at Milan's Fabbrica del Vapore showcases Giovanni Gastel's photographic homage to contemporary Chinese fashion. Born in Milan in 1955, Gastel captured the evolution of China's fashion scene during a visit to the Shanghai Fashion Week in April 2017. The show features portraits of designers in their workspaces and homes, blending ancient and ultramodern elements. Curated by Clara Tosi Pamphili and Alessio de' Navasques, the exhibition is supported by the Shanghai Fashion Week and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. Xiaolei Lyu, vice secretary general of Shanghai Fashion Week, expressed pride in the growing international relevance of the event. Gastel described Shanghai as 'a continent, a city-country, a universe unto itself,' and noted that the fashion world has transcended borders to convey a universal message of beauty and harmony. The exhibition runs at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan.
