Giovanni Gaggia's 'Ho visto un'alba blu' Opens at Museo della Ceramica di Savona
On October 30, 2021, the Museo della Ceramica di Savona inaugurates 'Ho visto un'alba blu', a solo exhibition by Giovanni Gaggia (born 1977 in Pergola). The title references a song by the Italian band CSI and the color blue, which Gaggia explores visually and metaphorically. Curated by Livia Savorelli, the show centers on the installation 'Cuore a Dio, mani al lavoro', comprising 125 ceramic hearts made during a 2019 residency at Antico Giardino Laboratori di prossimità in Albissola Marina, invited by Associazione Culturale Arteam. Each heart, cast from a real mummified heart, was personalized with signs, scratches, and writings by different community members. The exhibition also features the video 'Quello che doveva accadere', dedicated to the memory of the Ustica massacre (1980), presented at the Museo Tattile Statale Omero di Ancona, where a related braille tapestry is held. The video includes voices of over 50 artists, curators, critics, and journalists reflecting on Time and Justice. Additionally, a tapestry reading 'ADESSO' (Now), created by Gaggia with women from Pergola, is displayed. On opening day, Gaggia will lead a free public performance workshop from 10 am to 12 pm. The exhibition runs until December 19, 2021.
