Giovanni De Angelis's ART REWIND #1 Portrait Series Published

Giovanni De Angelis, an artist-photographer, has been capturing portraits of 48 contemporary Italian artists or those working in Italy, all under 50, in a series titled ART REWIND #1. The project began in 2011 and was published as a book in 2015 by Maretti editore, with a text by critic Laura Cherubini. Cherubini describes De Angelis's approach as asking artists to perform a small action, offering it, with each photo interpreting the artist's work. The portraits were made in collaboration with Ines Musumeci Greco. Featured artists include Flavio Favelli, Ryan Mendoza, Francesca Grilli, Jorge Peris, Luigi Presicce, Giuseppe Stampone, and Luca Trevisani. The project aims to revalue contemporary art by starting with its creators. The book is part of an ongoing series.
