Giovanni Anselmo's Self-Curated Exhibition at Accademia di San Luca

Giovanni Anselmo (born 1934 in Borgofranco d'Ivrea) has personally curated his exhibition at the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome, without any curator intervention. The show, awarded the Premio Presidente della Repubblica, is installed across Palazzo Carpegna—a building enhanced by Francesco Borromini's interventions—spanning the entrance, three contiguous rooms, the courtyard, and the elliptical ramp, ending in the noble floor's halls that house the academy's gallery. Anselmo designed a sparse yet rigorous itinerary tracing his artistic evolution. In the courtyard, he placed 'Dove le stelle si avvicinano di una spanna in più' because the space opens directly to the sky and stars. On Borromini's spiral ramp, he installed 'Interferenza umana nella gravitazione universale', requiring viewers to move to see the work in its entirety. The exhibition's title and message, 'Entrare nell'opera', invites viewers to enter and experience the work from within.
