Giovanna Melandri reconfirmed as MAXXI president, museum reports growth
Giovanna Melandri has been re-elected as the president of MAXXI for another five-year period, with the board remaining the same: Hou Hanru (artistic director), Bartolomeo Pietromarchi (MAXXI Arte), and Margherita Guccione (MAXXI Architettura). The collaboration with Enel, which began in 2015, will persist. Beatrice Trussardi has resigned from the board, which still includes Monique Veaute and Caterina Cardona. In the last five years, MAXXI has hosted 114 exhibitions, made 168 acquisitions, organized 1,841 cultural events, conducted 2,472 educational activities with 60,000 participants, and welcomed 430,000 visitors in 2017. For 2018, MAXXI has planned partnerships such as the Bulgari Prize and major projects like 'African Metropolis' and 'Low Form: Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,' along with the opening of MAXXI L'Aquila.
