Giorgione's Textile Legacy Explored in Castelfranco Veneto Exhibition

Castelfranco Veneto presents 'Le trame di Giorgione', an exhibition that examines the painter's work through the lens of textile history. The show brings together three works by Giorgione—the altarpiece in the Duomo's Costanzo chapel, the frieze of liberal and mechanical arts at Casa Marta, and a disputed 'Portrait of a Young Man'—alongside pieces by Titian, Bernardino Licinio, Jacopo da Ponte, and Giambattista Tiepolo. Visitors can trace portraiture and fashion from the early 16th to the 18th century. Actual fabrics from the Duomo's textile collections are displayed alongside painted ones, highlighting the role of clothing as status symbol and the prestige of Venetian craftsmanship.
