Giorgio Morandi's 'Il tempo sospeso' Exhibition Opens in Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The exhibition 'Giorgio Morandi, Il tempo sospeso' opened at Galleria Mattia De Luca in Rome, featuring around forty works including paintings and graphics that trace the career of Giorgio Morandi (Bologna, 1890–1964). Curated by Marilena Pasquali, founder and director of the Centro Studi Giorgio Morandi in Bologna, the show incorporates new critical insights from recently emerged family archive documents. The works span Morandi's iconic still lifes, floral compositions, and landscapes, with a focus on his suspended, timeless quality. The gallery expanded its space to include a lower floor dedicated to graphic works. After its Rome run until July 7, 2022, the exhibition will travel overseas to a New York venue in autumn for a larger anthology focusing on works on paper. Loans come from prestigious institutions including Bolognese museums, the Museum für Gegenwartskunst Siegen, and private collections.
