Giorgio Morandi Returns to Grand Hotel Majestic for One-Night Exhibition

On February 4, 2023, the Grand Hotel Majestic in Bologna will host a one-night exhibition commemorating the 1914 Futurist blitz that launched Giorgio Morandi's career. The event, part of Art City 2023, will display two Morandi works—a 1948 oil and a 1956 watercolor—from the Cecilia and Giampiero Matteucci collection, alongside a piece by Riccardo Corn79 Lanfranco, winner of the Sustainability Art Giorgio Morandi Prize. Art historian Beatrice Buscaroli will introduce the initiative. The original 1914 exhibition, organized by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in the hotel's basement, featured five young artists including Morandi, Mario Bacchelli, Osvaldo Licini, Severo Pozzati, and Giacomo Vespignani, and attracted 500 paying visitors. The hotel's café has been named Café Marinetti since 2014. Admission is free with a donation to Fondazione ANT Italia Onlus, by reservation only.
