Giorgio Marconi receives ANGAMC Career Award 2018 at Arte Fiera Bologna
The 2018 ANGAMC Career Award, promoted by the National Association of Modern and Contemporary Art Galleries in collaboration with Arte Fiera Bologna, will be presented to Giorgio Marconi, a historic Milanese gallerist with over fifty years of activity. Marconi began his career in 1965 when he abandoned medical studies to open Studio Marconi at via Tadino 15 in the Porta Venezia district, replacing his father Egisto's frame workshop. Through his father's personal relationships and frequent trips to London, Studio Marconi became a key reference in Milan's cultural life, mixing young artists with international art world names until its closure in 1992. It reopened as Fondazione Marconi in 2004. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018, during Arte Fiera Bologna (February 2-5), with the presence of Marconi, ANGAMC President Mauro Stefanini, Artistic Director Angela Vettese, Exhibition Director Marco Momoli, and Fondazione Burri President Bruno Corà. The award recognizes a gallerist affiliated with ANGAMC who has achieved artistic, human, and commercial success. Marconi expressed happiness at receiving the prestigious prize, stating it confirms good work done for himself, his gallery, and others. He noted that despite the years, he retains the same enthusiasm as when he started, driven by his love for the profession.
