Giorgio Griffa's Abstract Art Dialogues with the Invisible at Palazzo Ducale

A significant solo exhibition featuring Italian abstract artist Giorgio Griffa (born in Turin, 1936) has commenced at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, set to continue until July 13, 2025. Entitled 'Giorgio Griffa: L’arte che dialoga con l’invisibile', this exhibition displays over sixty pieces across eleven distinct rooms, curated by Ilaria Bonacossa and Sébastien Delot. The show is organized into thematic sections such as 'Segno colore', 'Segni primari', 'Segno e campo', 'Ritmo', and 'Ignoto'. Griffa, who has showcased his work at three Venice Biennales (1978, 1980, 2017), is known for his unframed canvases that echo jazz improvisation and the legacy of Matisse. The exhibition culminates in the final room with 'Dioniso', a striking installation comprising 21 canvases, and features Griffa's 2011 text 'Visibile, soglia dell’invisibile', which explores art's connection to the unknown.
