Giorgio Griffa installs permanent ceramic work at Turin's Condominium-Museum

artist · 2026-05-04

The ViadellaFucina16 Condominium-Museum in Turin, the world's first condominium-museum founded in 2016 by the cultural association Kaninchen-Haus (Coniglioviola), has added a permanent work by Giorgio Griffa (Turin, 1936). Titled 'Ordine e disordine', the ceramic installation consists of about seventy-five unique glazed earthenware elements forming a sequence of blue traces on the entrance hall vault, aligned in perspective toward the interior before suddenly breaking apart. The work was donated by Griffa and produced with funds from the Fondation de France's Nouveaux Commanditaires program and the Piedmont Region. Execution was entrusted to ceramist Valentina Polizzi from Caltagirone, supervised by the artist. The project was curated by Luisa Perlo of the a.titolo collective. In the past two years, the condominium has hosted 12 artists in residence, 18 public events, major city festivals, and a performance by Michelangelo Pistoletto dedicated to the Third Paradise. The new work pays homage to Alighiero Boetti. Griffa described the piece as 'a very simple, minimal, and symbolic intervention not far from my poetics.' Brice of Coniglioviola called it 'a drunken order.'
